Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:
Former Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson is set to retire as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, marking the end of a remarkable 15-season career in the National Football League (NFL).
The retirement ceremony is scheduled for Friday, with Jackson also named as an honorary captain for the Eagles' game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.
Having spent eight of his 15 NFL seasons with the Eagles, Jackson earned all three of his Pro Bowl nods during his time in Philadelphia.
Known for his game-breaking speed and unique skill set, he led the league in yards per reception on four occasions.
Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie praised Jackson, saying, "DeSean Jackson was a dynamic playmaker who captivated Eagles fans with his game-breaking speed, unique skill set, and explosive play.
What made DeSean truly stand out during his accomplished 15-year career was his ability to make miraculous plays look routine."
One of the most unforgettable moments in Jackson's career occurred on December 19, 2010, in a game against the rival Giants. The Eagles overcame a 31-10 fourth-quarter deficit, and with just 12 seconds left on the clock, Jackson returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown, sealing the victory in what came to be known as the "Miracle at the New Meadowlands."
Apart from the Eagles, Jackson also played for Washington, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Las Vegas, and the Los Angeles Rams. In 2021, he appeared in seven regular-season games for the Rams, contributing to their success. Although not part of the team in the playoffs, Jackson still earned a Super Bowl ring.
